Samsung accelerates development of its own humanoid robots

Samsung Electronics, aiming not to miss emerging opportunities in the humanoid robotics segment, has been quietly developing such robots for years. According to ZDNet, the South Korean giant's efforts are separate from its Rainbow Robotics subsidiary. Samsung's access to vast data from its global factories and smart devices helps develop effective robot control software, and it has its own AI model, Samsung Gauss. Last month, Samsung created a dedicated Robotics eXperience (RX) division directly under CEO TM Roh. To handle large data volumes, Samsung plans to build a new data center at its Gumi campus, using data from local factories to train robots. Lee Don-geon, who previously worked on Boston Dynamics robots at Hyundai Motor, joined Samsung last month to shape its robotics strategy. Samsung is also recruiting international talent from the US and China. The company can produce batteries and semiconductor components for robots, giving it a competitive advantage.
