VK Video has launched a new feature called 'Smart Episode Segmentation' – an AI tool that helps platform authors automatically arrange the structure of episodes in long videos. When uploading a new video or editing an already published one, the author can use the new 'Smart Segmentation' function in the 'Description' section. The AI tool automatically analyzes the video content, determines its logical parts, and offers a ready-made episode structure with time codes and chapter titles. The author only needs to check the result, correct wording or timings if necessary, and add the markup to the description in a couple of clicks. Now authors no longer need to manually find transitions between topics and write time codes – the algorithm does most of the work. In addition, 'Smart Episode Segmentation' contributes to increased engagement: as a rule, videos divided into episodes are watched longer, users return to such videos more often, quickly jump to the desired fragments, and less often stop watching. This is especially relevant for educational, conversational, and review content, where a clear structure directly affects audience retention. 'Smart Episode Segmentation' is available in the desktop version of VK Video when uploading and editing videos on behalf of the platform's channel. The AI markup can be used for videos longer than 10 minutes and published no earlier than six months ago. VK Video authors also have access to a tool for manually creating episodes: on one screen you can view the video, add time codes and chapter titles, and then transfer the finished markup to the video description.
