The US FCC announced a ban on imports of advanced robotic devices and power inverters from foreign countries. The ban applies to machines capable of movement, obstacle avoidance, navigation, weighing over 2 kg, with environmental sensors and networking chips, including robot vacuums. The FCC cited unacceptable risks to national security. Although not targeting any specific country, it will significantly affect China, a major producer of humanoid robots and inverters. Companies can apply for exemptions. Existing devices are not affected, and security updates are allowed until January 1, 2029.
