Threads users can now chat with Meta AI in direct messages

Meta announced on Monday that it is integrating its Meta AI chatbot into Threads' direct messages, enabling private conversations with the AI assistant. Previously, Threads users in select markets could only interact with Meta AI in public posts. The integration lets users share posts, images, links, and videos with Meta AI, ask follow-up questions, and explore topics in depth. The rollout begins globally from Monday. Meta continues to test AI public feed interactions and is considering feedback before broader expansion. Users can mute or hide AI replies. This move positions Threads as a platform for information and recommendations without leaving the app.
