At the WAIC Tencent AI Application Innovation Forum, Tencent Vice President Lin Songtao stated that the company does not compete on general capabilities but focuses on end-side AI. Their Agent product Marvis, launched on May 20, achieved over 300,000 DAU in two days with a 7-day retention of 54%. Marvis emphasizes system-level operations and local processing, aiming to complete user tasks efficiently rather than chasing metrics like DAU.
At the WAIC Tencent AI Application Innovation Forum, Tencent Vice President Lin Songtao shared that technological breakthroughs determine how fast AI can go, but real value creation determines how far it can go. Among Tencent's three Agent products — WorkBuddy, QClaw, and Marvis — WorkBuddy has the highest DAU among domestic efficiency agents, QClaw has been merged into WorkBuddy's department, and Marvis, launched latest, follows a differentiated system-level Agent route. Marvis achieved over 300,000 DAU within two days of its launch on May 20, with a 7-day retention of about 54%. Marvis's main use cases are local file operations (44%), computer hardware management (28%), browser tasks (18%), and app-related tasks (16%). Only about 6% of users use it for search. The product is designed to be user-friendly with a visual interface featuring cartoon horses, echoing the QQ penguin with a red scarf. Marvis's north star metric is the number of real user tasks completed, not DAU or session count. The team focuses on end-side devices like PC, Mini PC, and AI Box, not mobile phones, due to memory and battery limitations. Marvis collaborates with the Hunyuan team to deploy end-side model clusters. The team also launched a mobile Vibe Coding tool called Tusi to help developers create applications. Marvis is already engaging with PC manufacturers for pre-installation and plans to expand overseas. The product includes a Skills Plaza for third-party developers, with future plans for paid content and token rewards.
