Rostec Unveils Mobile Welding Robot: Production Times Cut Threefold
Rostec has introduced a mobile robotic welding complex developed by KEDR based on the collaborative robot manipulator DOKA RC10 from ROBOPRO. The robot boosts workplace productivity by 57%, works round-the-clock, and during trials reduced production times by three times and defect rates to near zero. The pilot results will inform new professional qualification standards, including roles like operator-tuner of collaborative welding systems and AI diagnostics specialist.
Rostec has presented a mobile robotic welding complex capable of increasing the productivity of one workplace by 57%, according to the state corporation. During trials, production times were cut threefold and the defect rate dropped to almost zero. The robot provides perfectly even and stable welds and can operate around the clock without breaks or days off. It can also be adapted for other tasks, such as moving parts, applying materials, or quality control, after changing the tooling. The results of the pilot application will form the basis for developing new professional qualification standards, replacing the traditional 6th-grade welder profession with new specialties like operator-tuner of collaborative welding systems, engineer-technologist for digital twins, welding process architect, and AI diagnostics and adaptive welding specialist. The new standards will be developed jointly with the Agency for Development of Professional Excellence and Bauman Moscow State Technical University. The complex was presented at the fifth internal professional skills championship 'Time of the First'.
