Quarter of Job Seekers Ready to Trust Chatbots with Finding Suitable Vacancies — HRMost Study

A study by Avito Rabota and HRMost surveyed 2,000 Russians aged 18-65. A quarter of respondents are willing to delegate job search and filtering to chatbots, with younger candidates (18-24) most open to this. The study shows growing trust in chatbots for routine hiring tasks, but final decisions are preferred to be left to human specialists.
Experts from Avito Rabota and the HRMost recruitment automation service surveyed 2,000 Russians aged 18 to 65 to find out which stages of employment candidates are willing to delegate to digital assistants. The most open to communicating with chatbots are candidates at the initial stages of job search: a quarter of respondents (25%) are ready to entrust the digital assistant with searching and filtering vacancies, and another 23% with automatic responses and confirmation of resume receipt. Candidates aged 18-24 most readily use such tools: 33% of them delegate search and filtering to chatbots (versus 25% on average), and 31% automatic responses. The key advantage for young specialists is 24/7 chatbot availability, noted by 49% of young respondents (versus 33% on average). High trust is also observed among 35-44 year olds: 16% are ready to communicate with a chatbot at all stages of job search (versus 13% on average), highlighting quick responses and the ability to go through stages at their own pace. Senior candidates (55-64) are more reserved: only 16% are ready to interact with chatbots at the search stage, but 19% of them value the absence of fear of making mistakes as the main advantage. The study found a steady pattern: candidates delegate routine stages like search, responses, and initial screening, but closer to the final decision, human involvement becomes more important. The full job search journey is ready to be completed with a digital assistant by 13% of Russians, compared to 9% in June, indicating growing trust. When chatbots handle up to 80% of routine tasks and the final decision remains with a human, respondents are more positive: 32% delegate document collection and verification, 28% interview logistics, 26% initial skills testing, 25% technical screening and FAQ, 17% onboarding, and 13% conducting interviews. Text remains the most preferred way to communicate with chatbots at 44%, followed by mixed interaction (21%), surveys and tests (19%), and voice control (16%). Konstantin Kunitsa, director of HRMost, commented on the growing trust in digital tools while noting that candidates expect automation to relieve routine and accelerate processes, with final decisions still made by humans.
