OpenAI announced that starting next week, users on the free and Go tiers of ChatGPT will no longer face rate limits for text chats, enjoying unlimited text conversations. However, messages involving file uploads and images will still have limits. Additionally, next week, free and Go users will get a 'Think' button to access higher reasoning for harder questions, and this week their default AI model will be upgraded to GPT-5.6 Luna. For Plus and Pro subscribers, the GPT-5.6 Sol model in ChatGPT will be updated to be more reliable with facts, designed to make fewer mistakes especially when answers depend on dates, numbers, sources, rules, or assumptions, by better using the sources it finds. The updated GPT-5.6 Sol will also provide more direct responses with tighter formatting, avoiding extra detail when unnecessary. Plus and Pro users will also get a new slider to decide how much thought ChatGPT puts into an answer. Both the updated GPT-5.6 Sol and the slider will be available starting Thursday.
