OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Health Feature for All US Users

OpenAI has announced the launch of ChatGPT Health for all U.S. users over the age of 18. The feature, previously tested through a separate hub, is now available across all plans — Free, Go, Plus, and Pro — on both the web version and iOS. Users can connect data from Apple Health, Function, and MyFitnessPal, as well as medical records from the Epic, Oracle Health, One Medical, and Function Health systems. OpenAI reported that the number of weekly health-related queries has grown from 230 million to 300 million. Previously, such queries were handled only in the specialized hub, but now 70% of them take place in the regular chat. The company notes that its GPT 5.6-Luna model outperformed GPT 5.5 on the HealthBench test, but emphasizes that the service is not intended for diagnosis or treatment, and recommends verifying information with doctors. The launch comes amid a lawsuit filed by a pastor from Florida, who accused the company of dangerously advising him not to see a doctor. OpenAI stated that it is working to improve the safety of its responses.
