OpenAI is developing a compact smart speaker with cameras and sensors that will respond to users not only with voice but also with moving parts of its body. According to Bloomberg, the device is planned for release in 2027 at a price of $300 to $400 (about 24.4–32.6 thousand rubles). The company intends to position the gadget as a daily-purpose computer based on AI. The device will be about the size of a hockey puck and shaped like a donut, designed to be held in one hand. OpenAI is developing the appearance together with LoveFrom, the studio of former Apple chief designer Jony Ive. Moving elements and light indicators will react to the user to make the device more 'alive.' OpenAI expects the speaker will over time better recognize its owner and adapt communication accordingly, with users interacting throughout the day. The speaker will work similarly to ChatGPT's voice mode but use more advanced AI models for more natural conversation. The expected price is higher than most smart speakers on the market.
