OpenAI has acquired presentation startup NextSlide, which used AI to transform prompts, notes, documents, and research into editable presentations. Founder Ahmed Beshry has joined OpenAI's product team to work on ChatGPT, and the NextSlide website now only shows his farewell note. Neither side disclosed the purchase price; Beshry wrote on LinkedIn that the announcement came "a few months late" and the sale had occurred earlier in the year. This is Beshry's second exit, having previously co-founded Caper AI, which went to Instacart for $350 million in 2021. The acquisition aligns with OpenAI's expansion into office applications: in March it introduced a ChatGPT add-in for Microsoft Excel, in May a plugin for PowerPoint, and in summer 2025 it tested agents that create presentations and spreadsheets directly in chat. NextSlide is part of a series of small team acquisitions by OpenAI, including Sky, Roi, Context.ai, Crossing Minds, and analytics startup Statsig for $1.1 billion. In June, German startup Ona (formerly Gitpod) was added, whose team now strengthens Codex.
