Mistral AI announced a definitive agreement to acquire Emmi AI, a Physics AI pioneer. The acquisition is intended to strengthen Mistral's position as a leading AI transformation partner for industrial enterprises. Mistral AI is building AI systems to accelerate engineering and manufacturing globally, and this acquisition extends its models' capabilities to understand and model physics, enabling AI agents to use existing engineering tools. Emmi AI, founded in Austria, has developed expertise in Physics AI, providing large engineering models that empower industrial players to accelerate workflows, replace multi-day computations with real-time simulations, and build digital twins. The Emmi AI team, including co-founders and over 30 researchers and engineers, will join Mistral AI's Science and Applied AI teams in May. Mistral AI's CEO Arthur Mensch said the acquisition cements the company's leadership in industrial AI for sectors like aerospace, automotive, and semiconductors. Chief Science Officer Guillaume Lample added that the combined AI stack fueled by Physics AI will deliver real-time simulations and digital twins. Emmi AI co-founder Johannes Brandstetter highlighted the integration of their expertise into Mistral's ecosystem to revolutionize core R&D.
