Microsoft Expands Azure AI and HPC Infrastructure with AMD

Microsoft is expanding Azure's AI infrastructure by integrating AMD's latest Helios AI platform and next-generation EPYC processors. New offerings include HDv2 VMs for data processing, HXv2 VMs for EDA workloads, and ND MI455X v7 VMs for AI inference.
Microsoft announced the expansion of Azure's AI and HPC infrastructure with AMD's Helios AI platform and next-generation EPYC processors. Three new Azure offerings include HDv2 VMs for data processing and agentic workloads, HXv2 VMs for electronic design automation (EDA) and technical computing, and ND MI455X v7 VMs for AI inference. HDv2 VMs feature nearly 500 AMD EPYC CPU cores, 4 TB RAM, 32 TB local NVMe storage, and 400 Gb Azure Boost networking. HXv2 VMs include 176 AMD EPYC cores with 3D V-cache, over 5 GHz frequency, and 800 Gb InfiniBand. ND MI455X v7 VMs are powered by the AMD Helios rackscale solution for large-scale inference. AMD and Synopsys highlighted their collaboration with Microsoft on these systems.
