MD Audit study reveals how AI transforms ERP management

MD Audit, part of SL Soft FabricaONE.AI (owned by Softline), conducted a study on ERP system transformation driven by AI. The main conclusion: the market is moving not from ERP but to a new architecture where ERP serves as a reliable transaction core and AI agents act as a universal interface. Employees no longer need to manually navigate system sections; AI agents find information, match data, prepare recommendations, detect anomalies, and coordinate actions. Four scenarios were analyzed: modernizing large ERP with built-in AI; composable architecture with minimal core, domain services, API, and AI orchestration; semantic layer or knowledge graph; and AI-based solutions replacing ERP modules. Three levels of AI agents were identified: level 1 assists in searching and analyzing without changing data; level 2 prepares recommendations requiring human confirmation; level 3 autonomously performs permitted operations with control mechanisms. The study notes that migration from foreign ERP opens opportunities for Russian businesses to either replicate monolithic architecture or modernize with a concise core, open integration layer, corporate data model, and managed AI agent layer. AI can speed up requirements analysis, integration preparation, document processing, testing, and data reconciliation. Success is measured by business metrics like reduced manual operations, faster reporting, fewer errors, and lower total cost of ownership.
