Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on the Q2 2026 earnings call that the company will soon introduce personal AI agents that can work 24/7 on behalf of users to help with goals, health, relationships, and finances. He emphasized the need for these agents to be a consumer product that works out of the box for billions of people, differentiating from enterprise-focused agents from Anthropic and OpenAI.
On Meta's Q2 2026 earnings call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg previewed a high-level vision for personal AI agents that can work 24/7 on behalf of users to help achieve goals and improve life, health, relationships, and finances. He noted that while agents have taken off in coding, the focus should be on making them a great consumer product that works out of the box for billions of people. Zuckerberg differentiated Meta's vision from Anthropic and OpenAI, which focus on coding and enterprise agents, and Google's Gemini Spark tool. Meta faces challenges as its AI efforts lag behind bigger labs, lacks ecosystem access to email or documents, and deals with distrust due to smart glasses issues. Zuckerberg said more details will come soon, and that personal agents will be the foundation for Meta's next wave of products and revenue. He also highlighted that over 1 million businesses use Meta's business agents on WhatsApp and Messenger weekly, with rollout to Instagram underway. Meta's push follows the launch of its Muse Spark AI model and a restructuring that moved 7,000 staffers to AI initiatives, though it laid off 8,000 people in May. The company expects $130-145 billion in capital expenditures in 2026 and is building a 1 gigawatt data center campus with BlackRock. Zuckerberg also noted Instagram now has over 2 billion daily active users.
