MacPaw partners with Liquid AI to bring on-device AI inference to SetApp developers

MacPaw, a Ukrainian app developer, has partnered with Liquid AI to integrate locally hosted AI models into its products. The company is working on an AI assistant called Eney, which it unveiled last year, and plans to build a locally hosted version. For this, it has engaged Liquid AI to develop an on-device inference system called Elix and a local memory system. Liquid AI's co-founder and CEO Ramin Hasani highlighted that their models are designed for efficient performance on specific hardware, offering benefits like privacy and security. MacPaw's CEO Oleksandr Kosovan said that locally hosted models will enable users to run assistants and agentic workflows offline. MacPaw also plans to make the technology available to developers for their apps, providing access to various cloud models, including those from Google, as a one-stop shop. Additionally, MacPaw is experimenting with credit-based pricing for its SetApp app store, allowing users to perform AI operations based on credits and task complexity.
