Google's Gemini app reaches one billion users

Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced on X that the Gemini app has become one of the company's fastest-growing products, surpassing 1 billion monthly active users. It is the 14th Google product to hit the 1 billion mark. This growth puts Gemini on par with OpenAI's ChatGPT, which reached 1 billion monthly active users in June. Google has been integrating Gemini across its ecosystem, including Search, Workspace, Android, and a standalone app. The company also reported that 63% of Gemini users use the voice feature, and Gemini generates over 150 million images daily. Additionally, there are over 100 million active users on iOS. This milestone follows the Q2 2026 earnings call, where Google reported over 950 million monthly users, with daily active users tripling in the past year. The announcement comes ahead of the Made by Google event, where more Gemini-powered features are expected for Pixel devices.
