Google Meet: Gemini now takes notes in in-person meetings

Google has expanded Gemini's note-taking feature in Google Meet to in-person meetings. During a meeting, a team member can activate Google Meet on a laptop or smartphone and click "Take Notes" to have Gemini transcribe and summarize the conversation, and generate action items. The feature is rolling out to Android users since August 11, web apps since August 14, and iOS users after August 31, with availability for specific Workspace and AI subscription plans.
Google announced in a Workspace blog post that Gemini notes are now available for in-person meetings via Google Meet, aiming to make Meet the central hub for all meetings. Users can activate Google Meet on a laptop or smartphone during a conference and click a new "Take Notes" button, which records all speech in the room. After the meeting, Gemini provides a structured summary, a list of tasks extracted from the content, and a full transcript. The documents are combined into a Google Doc and saved in Google Drive, with the link automatically emailed to users. The feature is rolling out to Android users since August 11, web applications since August 14, and iOS users will get it no earlier than August 31. The feature is aimed at business customers and is available for Workspace Business Standard and Pro, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and for private customers with Google AI Pro or Ultra subscriptions.
