Google DeepMind, in partnership with India's Atal Innovation Mission, has launched a pilot of ATL Saathi, a Gemini-powered web application designed to assist educators in Atal Tinkering Labs. The tool provides 24/7 planning and training support, including content curation, project generation, and multilingual accessibility, aiming to scale mentorship and enhance learning outcomes for over 1.1 crore students.
Google DeepMind announced at the AI Impact Summit in February 2026 the launch of ATL Saathi, a Gemini-powered web application for educators in India's Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL). The pilot targets 100 schools nationwide. ATL Saathi offers features such as streamlined onboarding with NotebookLM-organized training modules, AI-generated infographics and quizzes, advanced project generation supporting both push (curriculum-aligned ideas) and pull (student-driven experiments with step-by-step instructions), and multilingual support in 8 languages. The underlying Gemini model, specifically Gemini 3.5 Flash, powers the assistant to create instructional materials and generate grade-appropriate projects. The initiative aims to reduce administrative load, improve efficiency, and help teachers focus on mentoring and innovation.
