EU to Disconnect Its Job Matching Platform from Amazon Cloud and Anthropic's Claude

The European Commission is looking for local cloud and AI providers to support its new digital recruitment tool, Job Matching Application, according to Euractiv. The platform was initially planned to run on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and use Anthropic's Claude language model. However, plans changed after a memorandum from Court of Justice of the European Union staff raised concerns about data privacy with these US services. For cloud replacement, four candidates were identified from a €180 million framework agreement for sovereign European cloud services signed in April 2026: German StackIT and French OVHcloud, Scaleway, and S3NS. The replacement for the Claude AI model is yet to be tested, and the list of options is not specified. This move is part of broader EU efforts towards technological sovereignty, following calls from European Parliament members to reduce dependence on US tech giants and replace services like Google with European alternatives such as Qwant.
