Elon Musk proposes placing AI supercomputers at Tesla charging stations

Elon Musk proposed placing block supercomputers called Megapod at Tesla Supercharger stations to leverage their high-power electrical infrastructure. The Megapod, which Musk mentioned during a recent quarterly conference, will combine Tesla's proprietary AI4 chips with x86-compatible processors. These supercomputers are designed to be containerized for easy transport and deployment, connecting to power and communications to join a distributed computing network. The idea is to reduce infrastructure costs by using existing Supercharger sites, which have adequate power lines. Musk also noted that Starlink could provide high-speed satellite connectivity for remote locations, potentially overcoming bandwidth bottlenecks.
