Chinese Models Dominate Global Top 5 for AI Model API Calls

According to a recent weekly AI model API call ranking released by the global multi-model aggregation platform OpenRouter, all top five models are developed by Chinese companies. The top spot is held by Xiaomi's MiMo-V2.5, with a single-week call volume of 10.5 trillion tokens, up 12% month-over-month. The second and fifth positions are both from DeepSeek, with the two models forming a high-low combination to cover different development needs, where the flagship Pro version benchmarks against top overseas closed-source models in code and complex agent tasks. A common feature of these models is that they quickly climbed the rankings after a short release period. Tencent's Hunyuan 3, which ranked third, was officially open-sourced on July 6th, with a single-week growth of over 999%, making it the fastest-growing model on the list.
