Anthropic in Talks to Acquire AI Startup Decart AI for $6 Billion

Anthropic, despite its $965 billion market capitalization, is formally a startup preparing for an IPO in September or October of this year, which does not prevent it from planning acquisitions of other developers creating useful AI technologies. According to Bloomberg, Anthropic is currently negotiating the purchase of the AI startup Decart AI for $6 billion. Until now, Anthropic has not been involved in major deals of this kind, but the Decart AI acquisition may not happen. Founded in 2023 by three Israeli engineers, Decart develops technologies for more efficient use of computational resources in AI infrastructure. For Anthropic, which faces a shortage of computing power and rents new capacities from competitors like SpaceX, these technologies are highly relevant. Decart's software would allow Anthropic to reduce training costs for its AI models. As part of the deal, the startup's team would join Anthropic, focusing on compute optimization and inference. Decart also experiments with real-time video generation technologies, indicating high qualifications. In May, the startup raised $300 million with participation from Nvidia and Adobe Ventures, boosting its valuation to $4 billion. Decart's technology would help Anthropic and other clients reduce infrastructure costs, which is important as it prepares for an IPO, hence the negotiations now.
