Adobe Launches ChatGPT Plugin with 70+ Creative Tools, Turning ChatGPT into a Canva Alternative

Adobe has launched a new plugin for OpenAI's ChatGPT that brings over 70 creative tools from its suite of applications—including Photoshop, Premiere, Express, Acrobat, Firefly, Illustrator, and InDesign—directly into the AI chatbot. Users can now perform tasks such as creating formatted PDFs from uploaded data and tables, harmonizing multiple images into a consistent style for advertising campaigns, and preparing long videos for social media platforms like Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. The plugin also offers pre-designed templates, similar to Canva, which users can edit and share. Adobe's Firefly and Agentic AI head, Forest Key, explained to Fast Company that ChatGPT decides which of the 70+ tools is best suited for a request, acting like an interpreter that communicates with Adobe's backend. The plugin is not intended to replace Adobe's desktop applications but to facilitate quick adjustments in professional, university, or school settings. Projects started in ChatGPT can be transferred to apps like Photoshop or InDesign for deeper work, and users with an Adobe account and paid subscriptions get full functionality and access to Adobe's cloud storage. To use the plugin, users must activate it in ChatGPT's plugin settings, sign in to Adobe (a guest account is possible but limited), and then type '@Adobe' followed by their prompt in the chat window.
