Stella Sacco, a former lead writer at Saber Interactive, publicly alleged that she was replaced by ChatGPT during the development of Rideshare Stimulator, prompting an aggressive response from CEO Matthew Karch, who confirmed AI use for certain aspects and defended the decision. The controversy highlights the studio's use of generative AI for dialogue while claiming the narrative was human-written.
On August 11, 2026, Stella Sacco, the former lead writer on Saber Interactive's Rideshare Stimulator, revealed on Bluesky that she was replaced by ChatGPT during development and that all passenger voices were AI-generated. CEO Matthew Karch responded aggressively on August 13, dismissing Sacco and confirming that AI was used for certain game aspects, adding that he considered it a benefit to consumers given the game's reduced price. Sacco fired back, calling his statement pathetic and damaging to Saber's reputation. The game, a taxi management simulation set for release on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5, has received the 'Artificial Intelligence' tag on Steam. According to Saber, dialogues are generated from writer-authored prompts and then verified, but the narrative is fully human-written. Karch also noted that if the scenario won a prize, it would be awarded to a human capable of accepting it on stage.
